BACK TO WORK ON MY NOVEL: May, 2011

As of yesterday, I’m back to work on my historic romance novel, Intertwined Love. I’m putting together posts on the trek the first of the French emigrants made between Alexandria, Virginia to the Scioto, Ohio region. The emigrants were brought to the United States by the Scioto Associates, a secret group of men who achieved purchasing land for speculation from the Ohio Company. The trek occurred in the summer through fall of 1790, and took the émigrés, mostly wealthy Parisians, to their land of Eden, their land of milk and honey, in Ohio, far away from the French Revolution. They were in no way prepared for the dangers and trials of traveling in wagons on Indian trails that led them from the Blue Mountains to the Monongahela River (at Brownsville, formerly Redstone). I’m just sorting out the towns and historic landmarks they passed. It will take several days to conclude each segment of their journey, which will be written in posts at the novel’s blog site. From the posts I will glean material for a chapter for the novel.

Finally, however, the weather is improving—at least for now. I thoroughly enjoyed working on my patio, seeing the birds and butterflies, the flowers of all the colors of a pastel rainbow. I managed to take a few good photos of the birds, having my camera on a tripod beside me.
