A Wrist Slap for Bus Driver Who Molested Six Passengers

A WRIST SLAP FOR BUS DRIVER

WHO MOLESTED SIX PASSENGERS

When I read the prosecutor’s sentencing recommendation for sentencing a bus driver to ten years probation for the crime of molesting six mentally challenged female passengers, I was appalled. The molestations perpetrated by this 77 year-old man, Paul A. Lizza, on the women lasted over a period of four years.

What was the recommendation? No jail time: ten years’ probation. Of course, he did lose his job.

An editorial stated that If this wrist slap for such repugnant abuse is supposedly the “fair” penalty provided by law, then the law is grossly insufficient and must be revised.*

Maybe jail time was a preferable punishment, so it was denied. Perhaps being unemployed, jail time would offer him the housing, food, and other requirements necessary to live a good life.

It still doesn’t make sense to me, especially when I hear a kindergarten student is suspended for kissing a classmate on the cheek. Where’s the justice?
