Yes, I Have Lied About My Age…

CAROLYN’S DAILY POSTS: 2011

YES, I HAVE LIED ABOUT MY AGE…

A person’s calendar age is just a number.

My daughter Sandra, age three, asked me how old I was.

“How old do you think I am?”

     “Ninety-three,” she replied.

From then on, whenever anyone asked me how old I was I said Ninety-three. It brought fun responses, including my fantastic preservation.

Yes, a person’s calendar age is just a number. I precede the baby boomers by only a couple of years. While they are being credited with changing the lifestyle and nomenclature associated with the elderly, the senior citizen, I notice the huge number of persons my age and older who are not giving in to age numerology. I don’t believe that it is the baby boomers who are creating the new lifestyle. I believe they are following and improving on the lead of those before them.

I myself do not see retirement to the soap operas or the reality shows any time soon. I have books to write, people to know, roots to set down. I tell my friends and family that I want to die with an unfinished to do list—which means I will live up until I die—and even then, I will kick up blueberries for future generations to enjoy.

And I will continue to lie about my age until someone believes me, or until I actually reach the age of ninety-three. Whichever comes first.
