Gold-Flecked Ice Cream, Anyone?

CAROLYN’S DAILY POSTS: 2011

GOLD-FLECKED ICE CREAM, ANYONE?

I scream,

You scream,

We all scream,

For ice cream!

Step right up to try our new flavor gold-flecked ice cream.

But before you order this dessert you had better be certain that your wallet contains at least $250.00, which is what you will need to purchase this decadent treat.

You might also have to travel to Iran, where the new wealthy purchase this sweet covered with edible gold.

It’s part and parcel of how a small group in Iran are living, the wealthy populace. Meanwhile, the gap between the wealthy and poor in Iran is growing.

When blogger Amir Hossein Sabeti wrote the following question: How can we discuss decency, simplicity and support for the oppressed when we have this culture of ostentatiously showing off wealth? Woe unto us the day that our policies stop supporting the needy, but support the wealthy, he quoted famous words from the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. The popular resentment over inequality has a strong political dimension in Iran.

Are you ready for that gold-flecked ice cream now?
