JOKES IN 1937 GOUVERNEUR (N.Y.) SCHOOL YEARBOOK

One of the displays at my husband Monte’s family reunion was a 1937 Gouverneur High School yearbook, The Roundup of Memories. In it I found the following two jokes:

JOKE ONE

Father: well, son, how are your marks?

Charles: they’re under sea level.

Father: What do you mean, under water.

Charles: Below “C” level

JOKE TWO

Professor: I would like a preparation of phenylisothicyanate

Drug clerk: Do you mean Mustard Oil?

Prof: Yes, I can never think of that name.
