To Write Delay Living Life—To Live Life, Delay Writing

TO WRITE DELAY LIVING LIFE—

TO LIVE LIFE, DELAY WRITING

I often hear people say they don’t have the time to take a vacation or do a project because they have to work—and if they don’t take the time to work they lack the money to take the vacation or do the project.

Life can be like that—an either-or thing—a dilemma.

As a writer, I can change their comment to I don’t have the time to attend many events because I have to write—and if I don’t attend events—e.g., if I am not out in the world enjoying life I don’t gather the fodder I need to write.

My husband and I have been quite busy lately. We’ve been enjoying life, having new and renewed experiences, speaking with new and old friends.

Meanwhile, my writing has suffered and I am quite far behind. Not that I am not writing. I’m just not getting it in readable form.

And so I have set aside this second full week in September to try to catch up.

Yes, the busyness of the first quarter of September provided much writing fodder. There was our 45th wedding anniversary, my son-in-law’s annual Labor Day picnic, and the annual festivities and memorials surrounding this time of year—the Scotland games in Ligonier, the flax scotching festival, the threshing machine festival, the Mountain Days craft show, the tenth anniversary of the 2001 September 11 events, to name a few.

Today and the next few days you will find me at my computer writing posts on our activities and working on the Beanery Writers 2011 booklet. I have a lot of catching up to do!
