The Green Mead Farm Opening Day: Pumpkins & Corn Maze

THE GREEN MEAD FARM OPENING DAY:

PUMPKINS & CORN MAZE

October 2011 slid under the door, kicking out September to make space.   Brr, it’s a damp-cold day. Still, I had to run errands—the recycling center, grocery store—the normal errands that at this time couldn’t be delayed.

I’d hoped for better weather because I wanted to go to the Green Mead Farm, a mile and a half south of the Ligonier, Pennsylvania intersection of Routes 711 and 30.

Last year I procrastinated so long that I went too late to purchase a white pumpkin, so this year I was determined to go at the beginning of October this year.

After determining that the farm was selling the pumpkins I drove out, windshield wipers exercising like I should. By mid-afternoon there were only a few customers but a couple with a young child did arrive, being in the area from Hazelwood. And yes, I did purchase my white pumpkin—and took some romantic pictures while under a canvas shelter.

The farm will also host Chad’s Corn Maze on the weekends in October. Unfortunately the rain caused the cancellation of the opening night corn maze, which is not haunted. Hours are:

  • 6:00 p. m. Fridays and Saturdays (last entrants 10:00 p. m.)
  • 5:00 p. m. Sundays (last entrants 8:00 p. m.)

There is a $6.00 General Admission fee for anyone four years and older. Children three and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

     REMEMBER: BRING A FLASH LIGHT
