Free Energy on Saturdays

There is a new energy plan available.

Direct Energy competes for customers with Duquesne Light’s service area

It offers customers free electricity every Saturday. All they must do is reschedule high-energy activities to Saturdays. The result: they can save.

Free Power Saturday is a twelve month product with no cancellation fee. It is designed to encourage customers to reduce electricity consumption during higher-priced weekly peak hours.

Example: to dry two loads of laundry on Saturday, using an electric dryer, will save about $50 over one year.

Consider that the average American family washes 400 loads of laundry per year, according to government research.*

I’ve got them beat: to dry two loads of laundry—on any day of the week—costs me nothing if I use Mother Nature’s dryer, the sun.

However, many housing developments have housing association rules that prohibit the tool of sun drying (the clothesline). For them and others who routinely use a mechanical dryer, details on Free Power Saturday are available at (the address is case sensitive).
