.xxx Domain Site Approval & Tougher Rules on Child Porn

CAROLYN’S DAILY POSTS: 2011

.XXX DOMAIN SITE APPROVAL

&

TOUGHER RULES ON CHILD PORN

The new .xxx domains, approved in March by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN)…are not available for purchase by the general public until Tuesday, December 6, 2011.

ICANN is a nonprofit that oversees the Internet’s naming system. The .xxx domain indicates that the site in question is a pornographic site.

Before the .xxx domains go public colleges and other organizations  had an advanced period in which to purchase domains. So far, groups have submitted more than 80,000 applications, with a price tag of $200 each, to purchase a domain name for a period of ten years.

This allows the public colleges and other organizations to prevent pornographic .xxx domains to have names so similar to the colleges and organizations that the pornographic site will appear when researching those locations.

Purchasing the trademark domain sites includes variations of the trademark names.*

On the same page of the .xxx domain newspaper article is another article titled Tougher rules on child porn reporting sought. On December 2, 2011, Pennsylvania legislators announced a proposal to require the state attorney general to refer leads on Internet child porn traffickers to local law enforcement for investigation.

Hundreds of thousands of people are trading these images online everyday in America, and they gather in online communities and share images of children being tortured and abused. We need the attorney general to do the right thing and share the information.**

Does it seem ironic and schizophrenic to you that these two movements are reported on the same page of the daily newspaper? It does to me.

  1. Ross Douthat Op-Ed column argues that Elliot Rodger’s murderous spree in Isla Vista, Khalif , speculates a wider
cultural misogyny in which sexual fulfilment is cared for
as the source and crown of a well-lived liveliness
notes that Rodger took in charge executions after
verbalising a sense of shame and ferocity over sexual rawness.
